Some Good news for Animation Industry as Montreal-based VFX powerhouse Rodeo FX, known for its work on Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, The Rings of Power, John Wick: Chapter 4, and Dune, has officially acquired Mikros Animation, a former Technicolor Group subsidiary.

A Strategic Acquisition
Mikros Animation was one of four Technicolor Group subsidiaries placed in receivership earlier this year, alongside MPC, The Mill, and Technicolor Animations. With a strong portfolio including PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, Orion and the Dark, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Mikros Animation had been a sought-after asset in the industry.
Sebastien Moreau, Founder & CEO of Rodeo FX, emphasized the significance of this move:
“Welcoming Mikros Animation into our creative family isn’t just about growth, it’s about bringing together passionate artists who share our vision for storytelling and innovation.”
Mikros Animation’s Legacy and Future
Mikros Animation has contributed to 17 feature films and multiple episodic series for studios like Paramount Animation, Netflix, and DreamWorks Animation. With 300 hours of content broadcast across 180 countries on networks such as Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, TF1, and France TV, the studio has cemented its global presence.
Julien Meesters, newly appointed President of Mikros Animation, shared his excitement after Rodeo FX Acquires Mikros Animation:
“This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Partnering with Rodeo FX allows us to explore new animation frontiers while staying true to our creative identity.”
What This Means for Rodeo FX as Rodeo FX Acquires Mikros Animation
The acquisition includes all of Mikros Animation’s operations, as well as Technicolor Canada’s equipment. Rodeo FX aims to preserve Mikros Animation’s creative culture while expanding its global footprint, following the launch of its Paris office in 2023.
Jordan Soles, Senior Vice President & Partner at Rodeo FX, assured that Mikros Animation will retain its brand and production pipeline:
“This move strengthens our position in the industry and allows us to continue delivering high-quality animation and VFX.”
Currently, Mikros Animation is working on the highly anticipated third installment of the PAW Patrol film franchise, directed by Cal Brunker. This acquisition positions both companies for continued innovation and storytelling excellence in the animation and VFX space.
